From a physical point of view, today is absolutely the worst day so far. I am having A LOT of pain in my mouth and throat. The steroids cause dry mouth but mine has decided to take it to the extreme. My throat is incredibly sore, including the "jaw hinges". Swallowing, talking, eating, drinking is downright torture. My entire mouth is swollen and raw. Including my lips. It's not unusual to develop a yeast infection in the mouth from the steroid so that's what we thought I had. Well today has tripled in severity so the doctor took a peak. He said he can see the swelling but there is no indication of a yeast infection. He called my oncologist and they discussed how bad I was today. Dr. Hahn recommended this prescription for a lydocaine product that numbs the mouth. It only works for a very short time and it does not help the throat and "hinge" pain at all.

Both doctors are stumped as to why I am having so much pain in my mouth. I had a thought this evening. Full brain radiation can cause jaw joint pain and I definitely have that. I'm am thinking that since I am so sensitive to burning, the actual radiation could possibly be causing all the pain. I'll have to say something to him about it. Thank GOD it's only two more treatments.

My forehead and ears are quite a deep red also from the radiation. I burn so easily. This has been a miserable day.

Hi Stacy, Please know that as I read your eamil my heart is aching for you. I am praying that you are getting relief with the lydocaine. Jack and I will be happy to know that the last two treatments are over. Does that mean Tuesday is the last? Or would it be Wed. since Monday is a holiday? Either way it will be good when they are over.

Yes, I did know that Cliff's father had cancer and I do keep up with his condition. We will remember Cliff and his family in pray also.

Please know Stacy that we think and pray for you constantly. We are awaiting the day to hear that your good health has returned. I was just reading an article about Lance Armstrong, and his battle with cancer. Like you, he suffered so with his cancer treatments. That was in 1996 and 6 Tour de France's ago. Today he is beginning his 7th Tour! I know it must sound trite for me to say hang in there when you are so miserable, but I do not mean it that way. Love and prayers, Bonnie
