Glittering rainbow wings inspected the holy barriers around the Sapphire Plains. Altrez stood at the threshhold, running his hand over the enchantment, nodding in approval.
"I'm impressed. I would have never though of combining dragon, elven, and forgotten magics together to create such a thing."
Altrez looked over his shoulder toward a young man, whose wings looked ragged and unflyable. Yet the man had a smug look.
"I had much to do with my time before we were taken, as I can't fly. I studied a lot of magic under anyone I could find who would teach me."
Altrez nodded. The glittering sparkle of magic followed his hand along the barrier.
"Are you sure this will keep out the baddies?"
"Quite sure, 'Trez. The Goddess herself wouldn't be able to get through if she had evil intent. I am very thourough."
"Very good, Myuler. I'll have to send you over to the Emerald Platue to see to their barrier. I'm pretty sure Ariel wouldn't be able to come up with something like this."
Myuler smiled and looked back behind him at the small village starting to form. It was busy; they'd built houses from the soil, turning up large portions of glassland to field. They had to go outside the barrier to hunt, but not very far. Smoke trickled into the air from some of the houses, a light blue from the burning of the dryed grass. Wood was hard to find, even outside the barrier.
Altrez decided he would have to have a talk with one of the Guardians about wood, he supposed.
Hardly anyone used magic, everything was done by hand. Altrez decided that even the Escavlone would have felt comfortable here. Maybe.
"I'll go talk to Ariel tomorrow," he mumbled to himself. She seemed to have a connection with the Guardians that he didn't quite understand.
"Lets get back and help with the duties." Altrez looked back toward Myuler and nodded.
"Right."
He turned from the barrier and walked with boy back to town, unknowing of the small black cat stalking behind them.
