The second link I provided, the gktscientific.com link, also cites an "estimate" of "40 percent." The 40% figure has to be coming from somewhere. I'm not sure if some kind of sociology survey has been done that first produced this 40% estimate. I can look further into it.

What's to defend, Tony? A substantial percentage of Korean females in Korea have this procedure done or are pressured by their parents into it. There's no denying that. Ask some of your Korean acquaintances, secular or religious. Americans have their quirks, obsessions and problems. So do Brits. This happens to be a Korean problem, a problem that particularly irks me, given my history.

I'm from a Korean family, so I do happen to understand a little about Korean obsessions, quirks and problems.
