Amongst the juvenile taunts "WIZARD ARMY" made, he actually made a more important point than most of us have overlooked.

Our merchandise is going to be supplied by PSM (based in Cwmbran). Now I am all for helping local businesses but the real question is how many people who:

a) Don't live within 10-15miles of Pontypool

or

b) Don't support Pontypool

are going to buy our merchandise if is made by PSM. The likely answer is very few.

What we should have done is had decent merchandise made by a top sports brand like Canterbury, Nike or Adidas! I can 100% guarantee that it would out sell our PSM merchandise.

How many times have you seen kids in another part of the country wearing a PSM jersey? Likely answer 0.

How many times have you seen kids in Wales wearing an Australian/New Zealand or even Hong Kong 7's jersey made by Canterbury? Likely answer 10 times more than you have seen a PSM kit.

Let me ask you one more question. Didn't Ebbw Vale have all their kit supplied by PSM over the last couple of seasons?

I bet they could sure do with some extra revenue from merchandise sales right now!

Its about time we started thinking like a sports business (like most soccer clubs) and not like a small Valley rugby club. The potential for Pontypool after the success of our illustrious history is enormous!

[> Subject: You'll need more than that my friend. Just shows your club doesn't have the funds to make you a threat to Premier division Rugby. Stick to PSM and leave the real Rugby business both on and off the field to us big boys!

Personally not too bothered who makes the kit, as long as it does the job etc etc. I bought mine because it is PONTYPOOL RFC and not because it is P.S.M. or Adidas or Nike or Canterbury. I'm sure the kids we see walking around the streets wearing Australian [or whoever] replica shirts buy them because of the team not the manufactuerer. I seriously doubt whether we would sell any more shirts because it was made by Canterbury, Adidas or Nike.
