Subject: Ok, I'm gonna say it.

I haven't posted out of reverence to the victims and families of the fallen until now....

I'm watching the news, I'm reading the paper, the internet, ect... and all I can think is that we Americans are pathetically late in our patriotism. Let's talk about the president. Who in their right mind would want that friggin job? I mean you open yourself and your family's personal life to millions of people to criticize and condemn, listen and watch as they make fun of you and badmouth you.... THEN you are expected to be concerned with saving their ungrateful asses??? All of this for a measely 200 grand a year? I find it rather ironic that people whom just weeks earlier publicly defamed and denounced Bush's character are now praising him and looking to him for leadership. Guess what? I didn't vote for Bush, I voted for Al Gore, and I am damn glad right now that he didn't win. I was wrong. (*note to readers: I'm not often wrong. In fact, I think the last time I was proven wrong was in 1984, and I was actually only 11 years old, so you may want to mark your calendars) HELLO? Don't Americans see that when we make fun of our president, we are in fact making fun of ourselves, since we VOTED the guy in? That we are in fact dividing our country and making ourselves even more open for the integration of false patriotism??? i.e. militias, domestic terrorism, ect.
I'm even going to go so far as to say that America needed this. We need to know that we are not untouchable, that the world doesn't revolve around our own pathetic lives. Moreover, we need to get our fucking priorities straight. Every time I leave this country to travel, I realize just how much I love it, and how much freedom means to me. I am reminded just how glad that I have the rights that I have, that my children have a safe home and medical care if we were unable to provide it for them, and liberation that women have here. We have endless opportunities.
I guess what I'm trying to say here is that I hope that when this crisis is over, that we as Americans can WITHOLD our united front. We do not need a crisis to bring us together, when freedom is our bond. We should stand behind our leader because he is whom we have CHOSEN as a nation. And as a nation, we should stand behind our choice.
