I'm even going to go so far as to say that America needed this. We need to know that we are not untouchable, that the world doesn't revolve around our own pathetic lives. Moreover, we need to get our fucking priorities straight.

Let me address those statements one at a time if I may. Number one... We NEEDED THIS?! What in the fuck are you saying? That in order to "bond" us again as a nation we needed to have 5000 innocent lives taken senselessly? That this was necessary to have us come together as one again? To feel united? That, Allison, is one of the most inhumane statements I have ever read before. We NEEDED THIS?! We didn't NEED this! We didn't need Hitler or the Plague or AIDS either.

Number two... I never ONCE thought the world revolved around "our own pathetic lives" as you so eloquently put it. Is that your take on this? That because I was lucky enough to have been born an American, the other nations are somehow sycophantic? That has never been my belief!

Number three... I feel that I do have "my fucking priorities straight." I am an American. I'm proud of my country and it's people. It sure as hell hasn't taken something like this catastrophe to put me in a patriotic mood. I love where I live and I always have. If I didn't, I would have moved a LONG damned time ago.

I'm saddened that feel that this was some sort of "necessary evil" that had to happen in order to make us all realize what we have. I've never lost sight of what I have and I thank God every single night for it!
