Subject: Dreaming of the dead, bad?

Last night I drempt that I was getting ready (putting make up on, etc.) for something at my Grandma's house in my old bedroom and that my friend Matt (who killed himself a few years back) was following me around from room to room and just talking my ear off. I don't remember what he was talking about - I think just light stuff. And then we went down to look for my Grandma (and I thought "no not again. She didn't die again.). I called out for her, running frantically from room to room. I told Matt I had to call my Mom. But there she was - hiding underneath her couch (we found her dead on her couch). I ran out and cried "Thank God. I thought you were dead." and hugged her. That's all I remember.

Someone told me once though that it's bad to dream about the departed. Anyone know the logic behind that? I was comforted - and always am.

I've also been dreaming about that ghost lady (the aggressive one) alot in my dream house lately. She's scary, but she has my back. I'm just surprised that she's become reaccuring.

No not bad, normal I think. That's a great way to remember them. It's not a surprise that it's comforting.

I'm no dreamiologist or anything (me made up new word!), but I think dreams are never about the things they seem to be about. I think they're often just psychic effluvia, and when they do MEAN something, they are so wrapped in symbolism as to be far removed from their apparent meaning.

I would look at what your grandma meant to you in life and what your friend Matt meant to you in life. Were they emotional supports? Was Matt someone you thought about romantically sometimes? Was grandma a source of stability for you? If so, maybe you're worried about romance or stability, etc.

But really, I have no clue (and I don't think anyone else really does either).

Oh, definitely not a bad thing. I used to dream about my Grandma all of the time after she died. I tend to dream about her more when I'm really stressed out or feeling blue. I guess that we just have certain times in our lives that we dream about those we have lost. It's always been my theory that we dream of them during crappy times because they provide us comfort and it's sort of a nostalgic thing to help us go back to a happy time in our past.

definitely not bad
it's one of their (spirits) ways of communicating with us.
I also believe what others said, they 'visit' at certian times for certian reasons & alot of it is symbolic. Like coded messages with meanings which are specific & understandable just for/to you.

The dead can visit you in your dreams. I believe this. Since no one can really explain "where" we go when we sleep/dream (speaking spiritually), and no one can explain all of the dark matter in the universe...I have to think that they are somehow related...that we cannot know where we go when we dream, and we cannot know what comprises dark matter, because in our "awake" state, we cannot comprehend the greater mysteries of our existence without some kind of belief system getting in the way.

Your friend probably had something to tell you. Try to put yourself into the frame of mind that you were in when he appeared...maybe you will catch the message :)

Intense....I think I heard it was bad to dream that YOU were dead....I did once and it was really fucking weird. Long time ago...

I miss my grandma too, she was such a cool little old lady. She died a few years ago but I was with her most of the day and I was sober so I am at peace with her passing. Although I do miss her very much.

I think I have had dreams about her but not sure....I only remember bits and pieces.
