lots to reply to in this thread...

iym - i don't think you're wrong for preferring a certain body style, everyone has their preferences. i was offended because of how i was feeling at the time, not you at all.

chrys mentioned that maybe tall, skinny chicks aren't used to comments like that. Not in my experiences from childhood to this day. I was always called skinny, totem pole, etc. I wouldn't go as far to say I was tortured for my weight (or lack of it) but it was definitely an issue. Not to mention the anorexic comments, or "you need to eat", "if you turned sideways you'd disappear"...
There's also the athletic aspect (again lack of talent there), and once development set in for everyone else, I retained my boyish figure literally. I remember desperately wishing to be normal weight.

Now I'm happy with my body, but I still get comments rather frequently. I'd like to think the women who say them are mostly jealous, but its annoying nonetheless. People think I shouldn't be excercising just because I'm thin. Just the other day at the bus stop, my neighbor calls out "hey skinny minny". It gets tiring.

I don't think anyone is immune from body issues and people will find something in everyone to pick on.

tg - that rikers island comment isn't insulting at all. I have a thing for prisoners!!
