(If there was one thing in the world that he could write down as his biggest pet peeve, it would be careless mothers.. his own mother had been a careless bitch and he had become bitter because of it. He recognized now just how much his mother had influenced him, since he had become somewhat of a more lenient and more trusting person since Haylie came into his life. And now that he thought about her mother abandoning her - which was exactly what he considered her ill treatment - he became very annoyed.. it was just inconceivable to him that someone could go through the motions of creating a child with such careless abandon and then look at that tiny helpless being and consciously decide to neglect it. If he put those thoughts in the context of the tiny boy sleeping against his chest it made him want to break something, it just filled him with anger inside. His hand smoothed over Chase's back, rubbing in slow circles to release the little bubble of air that every baby took in following their feeding. He was a natural with Chase, would be with his own children someday.. perhaps because he hadn't had that as a child he ached to be able to save one child from that sort of pain and suffering, and in some way Chase was a savior to him, drawing him out of his own pain by letting him experience nurturing. He looked up as he heard the fake camera sound that her cell made when she snapped the photo, smiled a bit and held his arm out to invite her to curl up at his side.) I love you.. you know that, right? (He asked her, because he didnt know what to say to her story.. nothing he said would sound right and everything he was thinking was angry.. and all he wanted to do was coddle her for a bit.)
