Alex, também não sei te dar essas respostas. Mas sempre que penso sobre o tema, de para quê ensinar gramática, penso na questão da inclusão.
Talvez somente através de nós um aluno terá oportunidade de conhecer, por n motivos. Muitas vezes não se tem outra fonte de acesso, outro professor com quem interagir...
Se o sistema cobra as regras de nomeclatura por exemplo e não as ensinamos, esse aluno não estará incluído.
Não sei se fui clara!!!
Bom, é uma questão muito complicada mesmo.
