If the kids see that they're getting some kind of support from merchants and other people they'll have some trust in them. Instead of paying attention to adults like most things do, like the murals and other projects this will be for the younger people. It would bring the preteens and teens together with a common goal. The artistic kids could get to show off their talents at the block parties. They could get to know the people on their block and around the neighborhood. The awards would reward their work and give them appreciation. It would give them the chance to be active in the city and it wouod let the kids set a positive example to the adults too. Maybe they could have a celebration on the lawn at the end of Broadway.

Something like this can cover the whole city. Every neighborhood can participate. The kids get to use their imagination on how to improve their neighborhood One Block At A Time. Maybe they could turn empty lots into places where they could play off the streets.

Who would organize the whole thing? Who would oversee it? It will need to be coordinated by a central group. The kids should be involved with this part too. How can we make it happen?
