If you had asked me at half-time I might have agreed with Julie - up to a point. The first act was lacking in pace, at least until just before the interval. But that gave hope for the second half, which, thankfully, did deliver to a much greater degree. Was it one of the best comedies I have seen here in recent years? I think not. Was it predictable? Well, yes. I think we all probably guessed the 'diamond' was going to turn out to be something other than a valuable gem. But to suggest it was not worth the ticket money is over-egging the pudding somewhat. I, for one, have spent far more and seen far worse. The laugh-out-loud moments may not exactly have come thick and fast, but they were by no means absent. In any case, the performances alone were worth the money - Jan's boozy old dame was hilarious. I only hope Gerard is prepared to go through the rest of his BLT life being referred to as "the Haddock."
