This photo was published on 15th July 1959, nine days before the final night. Forming a pyramid of shapely femininity on the roof of a New York hotel are six contestants in the Miss Universe 1959 beauty contest to be held in Long Beach, California. They are (bottom row from left to right) Miss Iceland, Sigríður Þorvaldsdóttir; Miss Cuba, Irma Buesa Mas, and Miss Sweden, Marie Louise Ekström. In top row from left to right are: Miss Italy, Maria Grazia Buccella; Miss Germany, Carmela Künzel; and Miss Poland, Zuzanna Cembrzowska.
