I love that little tin, and the candies themselves, too. I think the desire to write must be like a gnawing hunger that's hard to satisfy. Lehane's quote is really interesting. It sort of lends credibility to one condition that's usually poorly regarded, and another one that's terribly misunderstood. (You choose which one is which!) I should probably read some of his work. I don't seem to be in that kind of mood lately

He said in this interview he did that any writer who doesn't suffer a major crisis of confidence with each work is either a hack or a dilettante with his head up his arse. :) Every time I write a book I go through this same phase, 'can I do this again/what the hell was I thinking with this storyline/and there's no way to pull this dang mess together so I should just go get a real job.' - I think anybody who truly cares about what they do suffers those crisis in confidence each time they put themselves out there, at least in professions where you are on the line, either personally or with something you create, it's natural to question and doubt yourself.
