It's obvious now that he was waiting for the reverend to unleash some information. I'm thinking Jamie suspected he was behind the train incident all along but just needed confirmation. And when he got it...sayonara Lucien. I do wonder if Jamie told Casey what he finally discovered? It would most definitely afftect Casey's decision to leave Ireland.

As for Pamela I was definitely surprised but I'm also a bit confused. Early in the book it says she danced for 3 years, saved her money and as soon as she could left for Ireland. I wonder when the mysterious entity approached her regarding Jamie and why did it take so long? She was a 16yr old kid on her own for christs sake so why didn't Clann Na Gael jump in a bit sooner and take care of her? Or maybe they were all along?

Wonderful book Cindy! I've have enjoyed reading & re-reading it and I can't wait for the rest of the journey.

Not sure if Jamie told Casey, actually- sometimes they let me in on things, and sometimes they don't, or they wait a long bloody time to tell me. Well, if Clann na Gael wanted her to do something that included seducing a man, they would wait until she was legal and old enough to be a temptation to a man like Jamie. They may have helped her out, but Pamela is fiercely independent too, so it's likely she would lie about her age and manage on her own- which is what she did with Hugh Mulligan- though I suspect he knew and kept an eye out for her anyway.
