Subject: Perhaps the Riordans stayed because it's in their blood. If they didn't fight, then who would? I suppose if everyone left, there would be no Ireland. Also, it was their home, language, religion, land etc., and having those of my own now makes me understand how terribly fierce I would be if push came to shove and someone or some thing tried to steal it all away from me. They seem to be a family of fighters for a good cause and not ones to easily give up what they believe.

  • Sorry I'm late! :-) I wasn't in on the original EU discussion, so I am excited to participate as much as I can. I thoroughly have a new perspective about the IRA and the Irish situation that I never had before. I was pretty clueless for the most part, learning bits from the lyrics of U2, but nothing that really created the understanding I got from Cindy's explanation. When I first 'met' Casey I though him a slick, charming man. He seemed like a force to be reckoned with, but wasn't sure if he was good or bad. I'm glad he turned out okay. *g* I think the Riordans stuck around because it was in their blood, as Tracy said. They had a fight about them and were passionate about their country and rights. I have a question about yesterday's chapters, if Cindy has a minute to peek inside>>> -- Lil, 19:45:53 06/29/09 Mon
