Author: Katt
Subject: It's so quiet around here? Thought I'd share this just for some conversation. :)

****This is going around via email as attributed to Eddie Sessions and having been printed in the Wall Street Journal, neither of which are true. It was written by Alan Caruba in his weekly column called "Warning Signs." While I don't believe he's spent a million bucks to keep his birth certificate and other documents hidden, I do find myself nodding in agreement with the rest of this! ~Katt ****

"I have this theory about Barack Obama. I think he's led a kind of make-believe life in which money was provided and doors were opened because at some point early on somebody or some group took a look at this tall, good looking, half-white, half-black, young man with an exotic African/Muslim name and concluded he could be guided toward a life in
politics where his facile speaking skills could even put him in the White House.

In a very real way, he has been a young man in a very big hurry. Who else do you know has written two memoirs before the age of 45? "Dreams of My Father" was published in 1995 when he was only 34 years old. The "Audacity of Hope" followed in 2006. If, indeed, he did write them himself. There are some who think that his mentor and friend, Bill Ayers, a man who calls himself a "communist with a small 'c'" was the real author.

His political skills consisted of rarely voting on anything that might be deemed controversial.. He went from a legislator in the Illinois legislature to the Senator from that state because he had the good fortune of having
Mayor Daley's formidable political machine at his disposal.

He was in the U.S. . Senate so briefly that his bid for the presidency was either an act of astonishing self-confidence or part of some greater game plan that had been determined before he first stepped foot in the Capital.
How, many must wonder, was he selected to be a 2004 keynote speaker at the Democrat convention that nominated John Kerry when virtually no one had ever even heard of him before?

He outmaneuvered Hillary Clinton in primaries. He took Iowa by storm. A charming young man, an anomaly in the state with a very small black population, he oozed "cool" in a place where agriculture was the antithesis of cool. He dazzled the locals. And he had an army of volunteers drawn to a charisma that hid any real substance.

And then he had the great good fortune of having the Republicans select one of the most inept candidates for the presidency since Bob Dole. And then John McCain did something crazy. He picked Sarah Palin, an unknown female
governor from the very distant state of Alaska . It was a ticket that was reminiscent of 1984's Walter Mondale and Geraldine Ferraro and they went down to defeat..

The mainstream political media fell in love with him. It was a schoolgirl crush with febrile commentators like Chris Mathews swooning then and now over the man. The venom directed against McCain and, in particular, Palin,
was extraordinary.

Now, nearly a full year into his first term, all of those gilded years leading up to the White House have left him unprepared to be President. Left to his own instincts, he has a talent for saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. It swiftly became a joke that he could not deliver even the
briefest of statements without the ever-present Tele-Prompters.

Far worse, however, is his capacity to want to "wish away" some terrible realities, not the least of which is the Islamist intention to destroy America and enslave the West. Any student of history knows how swiftly Islam
initially spread. It knocked on the doors of Europe , having gained a foothold in Spain.

The great crowds that greeted him at home or on his campaign "world tour" were no substitute for having even the slightest grasp of history and the reality of a world filled with really bad people with really bad intentions.

Oddly and perhaps even inevitably, his political experience, a cakewalk, has positioned him to destroy the Democrat Party's hold on power in Congress because in the end it was never about the Party. It was always about his communist ideology, learned at an early age from family,
mentors, college professors, and extreme leftist friends and colleagues.

Obama is a man who could deliver a snap judgment about a Boston police officer who arrested an "obstreperous" Harvard professor-friend, but would warn Americans against "jumping to conclusions" about a mass murderer at Fort Hood who shouted "Allahu Akbar." The absurdity of that was lost on no one. He has since compounded this by
calling the Christmas bomber "an isolated extremist" only to have to admit a day or two later that he was part of an al Qaeda plot.

He is a man who could strive to close down our detention facility at Guantanamo even though those released were known to have returned to the battlefield against America .. He could even instruct his Attorney General to afford the perpetrator of 9/11 a civil trial when
no one else would ever even consider such an obscenity. And he is a man who could wait three days before having anything to say about the perpetrator of yet another terrorist attack on Americans and then have to elaborate on his remarks the following day because his first
statement was so lame.

The pattern repeats itself. He either blames any problem on the Bush administration or he naively seeks to wish away the truth.

Knock, knock. Anyone home? Anyone there? Barack Obama exists only as the sock puppet of his handlers, of the people who have maneuvered and manufactured this pathetic individual's life.

When anyone else would quickly and easily produce a birth certificate, this man has spent over a million dollars to deny access to his. Most other documents, the paper trail we all leave in our wake, have been sequestered
from review. He has lived a make-believe life whose true facts remain
hidden.

We laugh at the ventriloquist's dummy, but what do you do when the dummy is President of the United States of America ?"

what's a few more going to do?

Honestly, I'm all for a logical discussion of the merits (or lack thereof) of President Obama. But, honestly, are there people out there today who actually believe that he wasn't born in America? Whenever someone brings that up, I just stop listening to what they have to say.

The fact of the matter is, if a person doesn't like Barak Obama, they are never going to like Barak Obama. They will find anything and everything about him, large or small, and blow it completely out of proportion and make it into the end of the world. It was the same thing over and over again with President Bush and it will probably be the same with whoever is president after President Obama.

I don't understand where all of the reasonable people in this country have gone. Why can't people take a step back, far enough so their opinions aren't tainted by their red or blue glasses through which they view the world, and really look (REALLY LOOK) at the issues we are facing today. Everyone seems to be so concerned with partisanship (and that's people on both sides of the political spectrum) that we've completely lost sight of what is really good for the American people. Everyone is so busy pointing fingers at eachother to place blame about the state our country is in and no one seems willing to stop for a minute and actually do something about it.

It's just easier to gripe about what he said or did and throw around the scary buzzwords (Communist and socialist and leninist! Oh my!) than it is to have a reasonable conversation about what's really going on. And until people can do that, I'll just try to keep my mouth shut and do my work and enjoy my life the best I can.

[> [> Quite the wakeup call isn't it? -- Jeannine, 09:14:56 03/16/10 Tue [1]

Nothing he can do will please his opponents. Nothing he can say will persuade critics that he is not an idealog determined to shape the country into something unrecognizable. His worldview is not just warped... it is dangerous.

Yeah, I heard that for eight years. Gets old doesn't it? That step back to look at what the country is facing is about 8 years behind schedule.

For every birther there is a truther. For every elitest snob there is a dumb hillbilly. For every Rahm Emanuel there is a Karl Rove.

Sort of ironic, really.

If it is any consolation, the nation has been much more divided in the past and we survived that.

No offense, Carrie, but while reading your post I just shook my head. It really is the same thing all over again only everyone has reversed roles! Let's just hope the country wakes up after only 4 years of THIS guy! :P

And yes, Jeannine, we have survived worse. But the whole "Don't tell Obama what comes after a trillion" thingy is starting to ring a little too true and it's quite scary...

I was completely aware when Bush was president that this is just how our country is. Politics as usual.

I saw a poll on the Today show that said 50% of the people polled thought we should just get rid of all of Congress and start over. I think I'm starting to fall into this category.

what's a few more going to do?

Hee hee, the political arena is a three rings circus. I'm sorry to say that I find all politics under the big top (U.S. Capitol). Clowns on both sides of the aisle, some more scary than others :-)

Honestly, I'm all for a logical discussion of the merits (or lack thereof) of President Obama. But, honestly, are there people out there today who actually believe that he wasn't born in America? Whenever someone brings that up, I just stop listening to what they have to say.

I accept that Barry was born in the U.S. Are there people who really believe he wasn't? I know there are people who believe 9/11 was a U.S. operations. Good grief!

I believe in redemption. He should have jumped on jobs first before health care. Doesn't it make sense to have a job first before paying mandatory premiums? I'm just a working class nobody but put people to work first before asking for money.

I don't understand where all of the reasonable people in this country have gone. Why can't people take a step back, far enough so their opinions aren't tainted by their red or blue glasses through which they view the world, and really look (REALLY LOOK) at the issues we are facing today. Everyone is so busy pointing fingers at eachother to place blame about the state our country is in and no one seems willing to stop for a minute and actually do something about it.

I wear purple glasses. I'm can be very liberal and very conservative at the same time :-) I prefer the color violet, so appropriate for this season.

What do you think is really going on? Seriously, until I know I can't respond. How about the buzzword alturist?

Carrie, I respect you. This response is not to be thought of as being a "slam." Hey, it rhymes with spam :-) It's not spam either.

[> [> [> Where to start? -- Carrie, 14:40:05 03/19/10 Fri [1]

First, I think that there are people out there who really believe that Obama was not born in America. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barack_Obama_citizenship_conspiracy_theories Yes, Wikipedia is not always the most accurate site to get information, but I think it sums the birther movement up fairly well.

Secondly, aside from political issues like healthcare reform and the war, I think that a huge problem with America today is that Americans have completely forgotten how to be nice to each other. There is a discouraging lack of common courtesy in how people relate to each other. We're not looking out for our neighbors. We've become so self-centered and entitled that we can't even take a minute to put ourselves in someone else's shoes to try to see things from their perspective.

Most of us are selfish and spoiled and lazy. We want all of the rewards that come with living in this amazing country, but we don't want to actually do anything to earn them. We've stopped thinking about how our actions will affect other people and if we do think about it, we likely don't really care.

I love this country and everything it stands for. I really do. I love America, but sometimes I can't stand Americans. Most of the time it seems like we live in a nation of spoiled 3-year-olds who throw tantrums if they don't get their way or if they think someone got more cookies at snack time.

I recognize these qualities in myself and I have been trying to change. I've been trying to listen to people and realize that there are two sides to every story. I try to think about the choices I make and I try not to hurt anyone. I'm not perfect, by any means, but I'm trying. And I don't think that anything will change unless people wake up and start acting like people who deserve everything our country gives them.

And now I'll go back to keeping my mouth shut.

[> [> Carrie - Why are you hung up on where OB was born? You should wonder what church he goes too? -- Sunny, 08:21:33 03/20/10 Sat [1]

That is what has me upset. He said he was not Muslim and everything he is doing looks like it to me.

I am a PROUD AMERICAN and have my birth certificate.
If I was him I would have held up that piece of paper high on CNN.
What a joke.

As far as Congress...the American people need to vote the idiots out that pass the health care bill. I plan too.
What about you?

[> [> [> Well, Sunny, I am not "hung up" on it -- Carrie, 12:21:13 03/22/10 Mon [1]

It's the birthers who won't let it die. That was my whole point. If he had come out with his birth certificate on CNN, there would have been someone to find some fault with that and on and on and on. To me, it's the same as a democrat saying George Bush wasn't really president because the Supreme Court stole the election and gave it to him. Both are ridiculous arguments and I wish people would stop using them.

As for his religion, I don't really care what church he goes TO because that, TOO, is red herring that allows people to find fault with him where there isn't any.

And if you think your representative didn't do their job, then you shouldn't vote for them. That's your right and duty as an American. I totally agree.

[> For me, what Obama meant by change is... -- gg, 13:11:53 03/18/10 Thu [1]

that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom -- and that government of Obama, by Obama, for Obama, shall not perish from the earth.

I find his agenda, his ideology frighteningly infringing on my personal pursuit of happiness. Maybe I should have been working in the public sector all my life. Then I could be one of the thousands protesting against layoffs. But, I've always worked in the private sector, so if public workers get laid offs...well, welcome to the club. My husband has been unable to find work going on 2 years, unless he wants to go India. Now that would be a real change, an unwelcome change.

My 2 cents, now I'll go away and keep my mouth shut.

But if you take GOD out of this nation. Lord help us all.

Every other nation hates us so bad. We probably will be nuked. Russia and China is how I see it.
Get ready people. Martial law will be coming soon. Police down in Texas have been writing about it on the internet.
I just got an email not too long ago about martial law.
OB does not get his way that is what is going to happen.
Watch for yellow, red or blue stickers on your mailboxes.

Take them off...make sure you do the newspaper box too.
You do not want red or blue.
I plan on buying yellow stickers myself.
1/2 inch...man its scary.

there are no death squads running around putting stickers on mailboxes. Think about this logically, ok? Obama is very liberal, but he isn't gonna kill us all. I am in Texas. There is no martial law. Obama is a US citizen, he is not a Muslim, but even if he was all the Muslims aren't evil people out to kill us.

May I suggest that you stop reading those type of emails? Delete delete delete.

You do not have an open mind the two Js.
Oh well...when it comes to pass for all of U.S., you will think about me. (It was not just for TX)

I bet people went out and checked their mailboxes too.
Keep a watch. :-)

All I heard about was those three colors. I would take off any color if there was one on my mailbox just to be safe.

I am not attacking anyone here just adding some thoughts for people to think about.

Peace

I did check my mailbox.

I don't have a mailbox. It's a clusterbox thingy about every 30 yrds on our street and there are no names on the boxes, only numbers. Gosh, I hope that doesn't confuse the death squads in North Dakota!

I don't have a mailbox. Just a slot that drops mail into a basket in my garage. It has no stickers of any kind (I didn't go look, but it is painted to match my garage so I'd notice).

And my co-worker works for FEMA. He hasn't heard about this but thought it was funny. He is a stanch republican, I asked him if that meant that he'd have to kill himself?
