1. I think individuals like these attacked jazz and swing music in this manner because it was a new form of music and they simply did not know how to react to it. For example if you look at todays rap/punk rock/heavy metal music most older generation adults dislike the fashion of the music because it isn't Jazz or Classical descibing it as loud/obnoxious.

2. These attacks are slightly motivated by race with words like savages and primitive which refer to minstrelsy. However, Dr. A A Brill quoted "They forget the Depression, the loss of their jobs. . . . It is like taking a drug". You don't have to be a different ethnicity to "forget about the Depression" or "Take drugs".

3. It is possible for some individuals to engage in sexual activities or take drugs because of music. But it is unjust to say that whoever listens swing music takes drugs and has sex all the time. Sure, some swing listeners may choose to take drugs and have sex but not everyone does these things.

4. Yes there is music that is immoral such is "Cool Keith" but you alone make that personal desicion to listen and purchase that music.

5. Yes. Many blame the columbine massacre on Marilyn Manson simply because the two boys were heavy listeners. In bowling for Columbine they interview Manson and he reacts by saying just because he writes music about violence doesnt mean it was his fault. You can look at important figures such as the president and see more influence because he is the one shooting bombs not Manson and the president has a bigger influence that some musician
