I agree with you as well. I also think that the Eisenhower Doctrine was a very important foreign policy action during this time. This message showed the nation would not only be helping ourselves in having powerful armed forces in hopes of repelling communism, but we would also be assisting other suffering countries to move away from it as well.
As we all know, communism was threat to not only our own country, but the whole world as well. If Eisenhower had not created this Doctrine, the Soviets could have been walking all over everyone, taking over Europe and anything else they were after, if you catch my drift.
In the United States, our own democracy would have suffered as well if not for this doctrine. We would have been sucked into the never –ending communist hole, and be trapped there. Nixon really knew what he was talking about with his Domino Theory- All the countries would fall to communism if some poor nation happened to be the one to be dumped into it. In showing that we were ready to shake our fists at any outlandish communist country that was trying to mess with us, we demonstrated powerful military might with a fearless mentality.
