OK

You told me, but these are not what I will call major surgery, so I wondered.

Maybe you are right about nothing will happen at the camp. But based on my researches, I know that these body alternation to construct top athletes, is a global phenomenon, and those responsible seldom admit it openly.

Even that they deny, still something may happen at the camp, and it can happen in a very clandestine mode, so that the kid himself may not know explicitly about it.

Our democratic societies are quite different behind closed doors than people may think.

But still he may tell about something strange like missing time. As for example that he go to sleep in the dormitory, and when he wakes up it is two or three day later.

And certain imaginaries may prop up in his mind, not unlike those stories about Alien Abduction.

These sport organizations are so eager to breed top athletes that they do almost anything to get results that can glorify the society. But it depends on weather this boy has been pointed out as a talent to be a top athlete or not.

I cannot see any reason to ask about removing his gall bladder. Even if it might be good for sport results, it is not good for his future health.
