The Cottage at the Edge of the Woods
You knock on the cottage door, and call a greeting into the cottage. When you get no response, you call louder. An answering yell sounds from the house, inviting you in. This is the place where Shang Warriors are trained, and where other younglings come to be trained as a sorcerer or a sorceress. Redwood, Tyleet, FrostStarr, you do not have to stay and fight, but we would be extremely appreciative if you helped us to defend our home."

"You went and got yourself mixed up in something stupid again, didn't you..." Kylara grumbled, and went off to find quils and paper. "I'll start getting the regiment together."

The shorter, younger one's looks are much brighter. She has flaming red hair and forest green eyes, and is called Redwood.* We thought you was gone for ever. *Redwood says slowly, thinking a little about each word. She was getting better at their friends' language, Tyleet had been teaching her.*

*the howls come closer, then stop as the tribe of Wolfriders emerge from the forests, the elves either riding or walking. Atop the first few wolves are Cutter, a very tired Leeta, Nightfall, and a rather pale young girl, Redwood. The chieftan dismounts and walks over to the small gathering in front of the cottage* Redwood asked to see you. *he says gruffly* Nightfall also has something to say, and who am I to argue? *he turns and walks back to his wolf, a pinkish tinge appearing around his cheeks. Obviously disgruntled but not angry about Nightfall ignoring his protests that the girl was still weak, he stands next to the large grey wolf, nodding slightly to the females near him. Redwood grins as best she can as she and her mother approach her sisters friends, now her friends. Nightfall speaks first.* I thank you for trying to protect my daughter against Rayek. *she says, rather stiffly.* Though she was a fool and a small disgrace to our tribe by trying to stop the male from following Rayek, she was at least able to prevent him from finding our Holt. *the female elf thinks of saying more, but stops at that. As her red-haired girl child steps forward, she retreats to her tribemates.* I say with Mother, thank you. Bad elf Rayek try kill anyway, lucky Leeta near. *she makes a good try at expressing herself, not used to speaking anything but the language the Wolfriders use. Still smiling, she holds tight to her wolf's ruff to keep her from sliding off. Tiring quickly, she turns to carefully ride back to her tribe-mates. Her chief speaks again.* Rayek has been banished by Timmain, he will not be here again. We will go back to our Holt now, Tyleet says she will return after a few days. *he raises his moonsword to bid them farewell, and the Wolfriders fade into the bushes, howling their own goodbyes and see-you-soons, then they stop, traveling back to their Holt in silence.*

*she rides in astride Moonwalker, a few rabbits slung over the wolf's shoulders infront of her. She slips off and leaps up a tree with the amazing eaze that is natural to her kind, and quickly skins the rabbits, dropping two to Moonwalker and keeping one for herself. She cleans the rabbits bones to chip into arrowheads later, and settles down to look through the backpack Leeta gave her. There was a leather bag of gold pieces, a finely made acubra from Leeta, some leather tunics, skin-tight leather pants, belts and various other leather things from Moonshade, some pieces of leather and thin leather strips also from Moonshade, a few elaborate arrow shafts from her father, and a wolf statue, this time a forest green, from Timmain. She takes out the wolf statue, and hugs it to her chest. She puts it back, and her four fingers brush something else, and she pulls out a pouch, opening it, and finds three gold ringlets and another, smaller, pouch. Delighted, she carefully slides the two smaller ringlets up her arms to about ten centimetres below her shoulders, one on each arm, and the larger ringlet around her neck. she opens the pouch curiously, and a white mist flows out and onto the gold ringlets, binding them in place. Smiling wide, she realises it is a little of Timmains magic, gone now, but just enough to bind the ringlets in place. She grins and puts the things away and leans back, caressing her new treasures.*
