I suppose if we wanted to change marks, we could. No one audits us other than the tabulation chair who double checks. I don’t know if judges would be able to look at results and see that we changed marks. They would have to either know the names of dancers or take a phot of their score sheets (which, come to think of it, I would totally do if I were an AD).

Our school places a premium on running a good feis with judges known to be honest. If a parent in tabulation was found to be changing marks, I can’t even imagine how our TC would react. If the family wasn’t kicked out of the school, the parent would pretty much be ostracized by the rest of the families and would never be allowed anywhere near a score sheet or tabulation room again.

In the US, there is at least one feis registration company that do the tabulation., Quickfeis. Based on everything I’ve heard about the owner, I have high trust that there are no shenanigans in tabulation. Feisworx will do tabulation for a feis but schools also have option of using their system with volunteers.

Ultimately, it just comes down to trust. You have to trust that tabulation will be honest. Kind of like elections. If you don’t trust tabulation, don’t go to the feis.
