Subject: I’ve been involved in ID for more than 15 years and there two things people perpetually claim . . .
In reply to: Collette dance mum 's message, "Prices" on 3/12/24 18:01:41, Tue

(1) the cost bas gotten so high people aren’t going to be to afford it anymore; (2) “the standard” of dancing has gone down.

I assume these two complaints were being made long before my kids started. And I expect they will continue long after I’m gone.

It is a bummer that ID is so expensive. But so are other activities like “regular” dance in the US (that is actually more ridiculously expensive, especially with costumes and entry fees) and hockey (ever price out a pair of hockey skates?).

As for “the standard” of dancing declining, that just seems petty. No one can ever say when this mythical time was where even girls who didn’t recall at O danced like Jean Butler.

Irish dance will go on. Either accept the cost or move on. Complaining about it won’t change anything.
