Subject: I saw one Oireachtas where in a tiny senior men's comp, the dancer in first place going into the set made a complete mess of his Kilkenny Races at 76 and dropped to FOURTH.

He won the prior year and was the clear favorite going in. The teacher took a massive risk on choreography that this dancer wasn't ready for, and he totally lost it part way through. Looked like he was about to stop several times but thankfully kept dancing to avoid disqualification.
