Yes steps matter, but not nearly as much as most people think. A world champ could have a very wide variety of steps and still get the recall. People were complimenting your dancer because she danced well COMPARED TO WHAT HER USUALY DANCING LOOKS LIKE. She probably danced very well compared to her standard. However just cuz your daughter danced her best and what might have seen good for her, doesn’t mean she was good enough to recall. Also towards the bottom of the recall, it is very difficult to accurately score so it probably could have gone either way if she was close.
