"Both of you take him and go. Now."

One man took a threatening step forward, but the other, smaller man made a frantic grab for his arm and pulled him back, his other hand raised in the air. He leaned over as the smaller man whispered something in his ear, and they both turned to look at their boss who was writhing on the ground and blurting out every curse imagineable. A murderous look on their faces, to compensate for looking utterly humiliated, they heaved their boss to his feet and limped to the back of the alley. One man turned to Max and Midori and shouted something at them that sounded like a threat, his voice was too incoherent with rage to make out what he was saying, and they slid to the side through the doorway which they'd come.

As Midori took the gun from him and turned to the men, he took the liberty to step into the background and look after himself for a few seconds. His nose was bleeding, so he wiped the blood off on his sleeve, and turned back to Midori in time to see the three men skulking off into the dark. For a moment he didn't say anything, and an awkward, slightly uncomfortable silence settled over them. Max didn't know what to say, he didn't trust his voice. He felt light-headed and was still winded. "... You alright?" after a couple of minutes he finally asked, quietly.
