"Darling, its okay. You just, well smelled slightly different."
That sounded strange. But truth be told, he had quite forgotten about it. It was probably the consequence of not actually spending any time as an animal, that one tended to forget these little things that gave one away. He was quite comfortable going about his way as a human, thank you very much. "Oh right. Damn. You're good." he laughed.
"No Max. No handcuffs, and no arrest. You saved me and anyways I'm not after shifters. Your secret is safely tucked away in my heart and head."
"Lucky me. What are you after, then?" he asked inquisitively, even though he was sure he already knew the answer. He just wanted to make sure. Either way, it had to be an interesting occupation. I need to get a f*cking job. he added as an afterthought in his head, his mind probably rolling its eyes at him disapprovingly if it could. Max looked her, waiting patiently for an answer, and again the thought popped into his head. Midori was incredibly beautiful. But he already knew that, and was convinced she knew it too, although there was something else about her appearance that had been bothering him the whole night, and he hadn't been able to place a finger on it. Not "bother" as in "annoy", but more that there was something, well, unusual, or at least different about her. As he looked sideways at her now, it finally hit him. Her eyes. They were purple. Or lavender, for sounding more poetic and not quite so blunt. He felt kind of stupid for only noticing it now. Contact lenses? Or was she, well, "special"? He didn't know whether he should ask her, it would be really random. Silence and then "DUDE! Groovy eyes, man! =D" wasn't exactly, well... it didn't sound right.
"I can tell. Do you always seek to save the damsels in distress?"
"Oh, yeah, I just got a knack for that sorta thing." he said with a casual wave of the hand. Her next move caught him slightly by surprise, but, well, not in a bad way. It was nice, having her head rest gently against him- it had been a while since he'd had any actual form of physical contact with another person. Except obviously for earlier on, but that had been more in an "Imunna beat the crap out of you" fashion. His arm slid out from behind his head and he carefully put it around her shoulders, cautious not to do so too suddenly.
