Date Posted: 09:32:25 08/16/09 Sun Summer was beginning to wane, the days were inching slowly closer to less light, less freedom... a place were dangers were aplenty, and she had to be on her guard. A breeze swept down the road as the tall, shapely woman strode toward the tunnels that she called home. She lifted her chin slightly, scenting the wind. Cassidy was up ahead, approaching the subway tunnels as well. Verda's heels clicked as she headed down the stairs, into the tunnels. It was dusk, the subway was busy, and Verda appeared as if she had somewhere important to be. Let them think you were in a rush to be somewhere, and folks usually left you be. She waited a few minutes until a subway vessel was arriving and leaving, and then she slid into an empy maintenance closet. She went to a side wall, sliding in behind a water heater, and crouched to move through a hole low in the wall. It was a crude entrance, but one that suited her and her pack's needs fine. Once on the other side, Verda found herself in a narrow tunnel, about 6' tall, 4' wide. She headed deeper underground, her heels muffled by the debris on the ground. She didn't even want to contemplate what she was walking through. Twenty minutes later, after many turns and split tunnels, She came to a surprisingly large room. the rumble of the subway cars was a distant hum, and the ground didn't shake beneath their movement. Verda paused, and surveyed the room. She'd found it several nights before, and had decided to make this her hub of operations. It was barren, with only a little debris on the floor, though the rats were plenty.
