Theron waited patiently at the coffee shop's pick-up counter, glowering at the workers bustling around in the shop's workspace. Coffee. Caffine. Caffine, NOW. Pretty please. Pretty pretty please. When one of the women dashed forward and plonked his cup down before him, he smiled and breathed a heavy sigh of relief. Ohhh. That was a close one, for sure. A few seconds more and he would have begun screaming for his order. He slid the cardboard liner over the cup, needlessly protecting his hands. He liked having something to play with. Especially if the conversation got steammmmy again. He snapped a lid on, grabbing a handful of sugar packets. Mental note: ask them to start using liquid sugarcane. Soooo much better.
Theron ran a hand through his bluish hair, scanning the small room once more. There was the kitten, sitting where she had been only moments before, but... a few tables away... Theron sniffed softly. He knew that scent, so, so well. Mmm. Yum yum. The kitten and the cub both in one place. That certainly simplified things. But Karina hadn't been aware he was in the city, hmm? Strange. Or estranged, as things probably were. Theron sighed, and began to plod towards the girl. Mari would come when he scented something fishy. He always did, after all.
You look lovely, Kitty. Almost good enough to eat, hmmm? Theron leaned across the table and kissed her on both cheeks, grinning widely. She smelled better than cupcakes. Oooooh... cupcakes. There was a bakery down the road. That was it! Coffee with Karina and THEN cupcakes with Mari. Wonderful. Absolutely wonderful, my dear.
