It seems that, with the possible exception of Rago (a brand unheard of in the UK until relatively recently) there are almost no generally available girdles of the traditional, panelled type now available.
In my younger days there were many, many options at a range of prices and available from all kinds of shops from department stores and speciality corsetry/underwear retailers to outlets such as M&S and, of course, numerous fashion and underwear catalogues. Women paid a lot of attention, when making a purchase decision, to the details of different makes and styles. they looked at the strength and type of the elastics, size and positioning of rigid andnone-way stretch panels, position and number of suspenders, boning, etc. In my experience as an observer of the process, while often reluctant to acknowledge the need for a more controlling girdle, women tended gradually to accept it and "move up" the scale, often selecting a "better" (i.e. stronger) girdle "just for best" but then, gradually adopting that level of control for every-day wear. I suppose it's psychology!
