 I recently required a few antibiotic injections for a condition I had. I had just had my rectal temperature taken by the nurse. Yes rectal temperatures are still taken with the red topped electronic probes. Anyway, laying on the treatment table with my underwear still lowered, I was given a shot in each buttock. The needles went in quickly, the medication injected and the needles withdrawn. The actual stick in my buttocks didn't hurt. The soreness to my butt muscles came later that night and for at least two days. And re: my temperature...I needed the shots! I was at 102.4F!
