If you want to call it the "worst" part of dealing with a double pneumonia I had, it was having my temperature taken. I was brought in to the treatment room, disrobed to my t-shirt and briefs and was instructed by my doctor to lay face down. I did, had my underpants pulled down and had my temperature taken. 104.3F was the reading.
After the rest of my vitals, a stethoscope on my chest for what seemed like forever, and listening to my lungs, I was allowed to dress except for my shirt. I went to X-ray later, and waited until the films were read. I had double pneumonia. Bacterial. I assumed I'd be getting my butt to be made into a pin cushion with antibiotics getting pushed into my gluteal muscles. No, didn't happen. I was given inhalers, a prescription was written and filled and about three days later my fever had come down, no difficulty breathing anymore, and I finally recovered fully, minus any injections; though while recuperating, I was re-acquainted with the rectal temperature procedure more than once.
I feel for you who wind up getting all these injections in your bottoms. I'm sure they're painful, but if they work, that's what counts.
