I do not doubt for a single minute that the publicity gained when AZ went to the media and began a campaign to check into the CVPI has actually done some good. Ford would have blown off the situation, paying the survivors off quietly and been ready with an open check book for the next one. I do not blame the media for any of that. Actually, I laud them, so it is you, Major, who missed my point.

My point was: don't come in here and say you (the media) are or should be free of having a bad reputation when it comes to overkill.

I disagree with the Ford lover who slammed the original poster simply because he was tired of hearing about it and felt the need to defend Ford. It is news and will be for some time.

And as for your theory on NHTSA. NHTSA, while a government agency, is a business that works for the automotive industry. The manufacturers are their clients for many services, research, etc. I know NHTSA like you know media. I would never trust them not to cover up something or simply ignore it. It's happened far too many times.
