The "Miss" division was added a few years back (first called "Miss for America," then changed to "Miss for America Strong," presumably due to a conflict with the name being too close to Miss America). The same Mrs. America pageant also added another division that was supposed to be created as a pageant for all the states 1st runners up called "Mrs. American," but it's since kind of turned into an at-large free for all for states that don't hold actual pageants. Big money grab all around... but yeah, it's the same Mrs. America you're thinking of. So silly for all the pageants to drop or add a letter to be able to slide in under the door. In my opinion, that's one of the reasons that interest in pageants from the public dropped. All of these system pageants with their silly names and big huge bucket crowns. When you see a stage full of people in the mall and 95% of them are wearing crowns, where is the specialness in that? Been saying this for years. I'm a former state winner and director for the Mrs America system. It used to be special and a once and done deal. The need to drop the Miss. If you follow the system ost states can barely scrape together 5 Miss contestants. Hardly worth the trouble. The American is somewhat better but so confusing to people. There were many missing state delegates this year at nationals. They also need to beef up their prize package. It's pretty much non-existant.
