Subject: Actually, GuyRex didn't recruit contestants (for example, former runners-ups) as only Gretchen had been 2nd r-up the year before she won. Laura, Christy, Michelle and Courtney were basically newbies, having only competed in maybe one other pageant (Michelle in MAO, for example). Basically, GuyRex took whoever the judges gave them, then spent six months grooming her for nationals. (Courtney told me she learned "a book's worth" about herself during those six months.)
