Nope. Texas has 9 Miss USAs (1977, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1995, 2001, 2008, 2022), two of whom won Miss Universe. It also has produced three Miss America winners (1942, 1971, and 1975). (NT) No name

Don't I remember a very young lady winning Miss Texas (MAO) once named Carly Jarmon or something similar? The only other detail I recall is that someone else at Miss America reserved her song (can't remember what it was) before she had the chance. Carly's song at State was "Stormy Weather" and she sang the heck out of it. It was replaced with Stephany Samone's version of "Stand By Your Man," which didn't fare well in Atlantic City. Shilah Phillips won on her first try. She’s the only one in the history of Texas MAO, I believe. She was also the first African American winner. Ended up being first runner up at MA. One of the best there ever was! (NT) No name

R'Bonney Gabriel won Miss Texas USA on her second try, then won Miss USA and ultimately Miss Universe in a course of three months. Kandace Krueger was a non-finalist four times before won on her fifth try. Crystle Stewart also won Miss Texas USA on her fifth try, unlike Kandace, she was the runner-up between 2004, 2006, and 2007, and a semifinalist in 2003. (NT) No name
