Subject: Click in for predictions and commentary. Favorite headshots in alphabetical order - Burleson, Nicole Wingard (gorgeous girl!); DeWitt County, Daisy Sudderth (wish this was more face and less hair, since she is stunning); DFW, Karrington Bennett (something about her face draws me in, even with the ruffle and big earrings that would otherwise distract); Texarkana, Madison Matlock; Westlake, Austin Douglas.

There are a lot of girls I’m looking out for, and I won’t be able to refine my picks until after preliminary competition starts.

Semi-finalist (including bubbles/who I’m keeping an eye on)

Burleson, Nicole Wingard - all of the returning top 5 girls are definitely on my list to make finals at the very least. Wingard is STRONG, and I’ve been shocked before when she didn’t place in the top 5 when I thought she would. She is a very talented Irish Dancer and clearly works on it year round, is incredibly articulate and intelligent, and has an interesting platform. I like her and I want her to place well again.

Coppell, Haylee Chiariello - I want to see her “soften” a bit since she has these very defined, hard lines visually. She is a BUBBLE but if she has gotten the right guidance and hits her marks during prelims, I could see her scoring well; it really depends on how she comes across in interview first.

Dallas, Danielle Ball - Another bubble, not a shoe-in for finals for me. I haven’t been able to find any videos of her dancing, and since Nicole Wingard is all but guaranteed to be in the top 10, she’s either going to have to be so obviously technically advanced or entertaining that the panel throws points at her. I’m not sold on her, though - I wish she would stop with the offensively obvious Photoshop on all her photos. She’s gorgeous without turning herself into a completely different person.

DeWitt County, Daisy Sudderth - I LOVE HER. At the beginning of Miss Texas last year I hated her, and by the end I was shocked she only placed 4th RU. I said earlier that I would like to see her mature a bit before she wins, but I can definitely see her winning Miss Texas within the next 3 years (conservative estimate). Realistically, I think she’s on track to being Miss Texas 2026.

DFW, Karrington Bennett - I know nothing about her, have never met her, have never seen her compete, but I like her just from social media. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that she competes well. Can anyone who has met her share their thoughts?

Park Cities, Kennedy Hardeman - Dallas/Park Cities, please tell me you worked that D/PC magic on this girl. I remember watching her compete as a Teen and fell in love with her then. She seemed to get lost a bit on stage last year as a new Miss, but she’s cute, has a good attitude, and just needed a bit of polishing to help her feel comfortable so she can shine & stand out on stage. I am really, really hoping that is the case this year.

Plano, Sadie Schiermeyer - The first Miss Texas legacy of the group! Schiermeyer was 1 RU to Allie Graves in 2019 and was probably the perfect “Teen” that year; that’s why I’m going to be watching carefully to see how she transitions to Miss. Some girls are just good at pageants (and playing the game), but others have a difficult transition from teen to miss. I think she’ll be strong because she is a good speaker and has a great talent; the obvious connect of her being Arian Orlando’s daughter is hard to ignore.

Southlake, Annette Addo-Ydobo - another case of I JUST LOVE THIS GIRL. I am rooting for her. However, with the current Miss America being a HERStory talent, the panel’s opinion might sway this. If they are neutral or like a well done HERStory - like Southlake’s - then I think she’s going to place very well. If they HATE a HERStory? Luck of the draw, probably won’t score as high as she could otherwise. Again, my feelings/suspicions will be clarified after prelims.

Space City, Chloe Burke - She’s a good speaker, has a great talent, and an incredibly compelling personal story (that just so happens to align with MAO’s partnership with the American Heart Association…). Considering her 3RU placement last year, I think she’s going to be in top 10. My only hesitation is that while I am rooting for her, it’s from a clinical “she’s good at this” standpoint, not because I’m drawn to HER. We shall see.

Texarkana, Madison Matlock - She’s the total Texas package - strong platform and interview, great talent, great figure, and a gorgeous girl on top of it. I’m tired of seeing her bashed constantly on this board so I’m not going to say much else, but she is the one I am cheering for the loudest.

Twin Rivers, Alannah Bruce - I count her as an almost-legacy (her mother was 1 RU to Miss Texas in the late 90s, I believe? Not certain on the year exactly.) I hope her styling and performance choices were tweaked to be a bit more modern era as she is technically strong in all aspects of competition but it seems she is not allowed to be herself. I’m rooting for her, though. She deserves her moment to shine.

Westlake, Austin Douglas - If her family is hyping her on this board, congratulations, it worked. I’m watching her closely. Do I think she’ll be a top 5 finish? No…or at least, my answer is no until I see her compete. Washington is a big state but Texas is a level of competition most women can’t comprehend. Considering her track record in WA, I’m hoping I’m not disappointed. If she doesn’t deliver and she really is strong typically, I’ll be glad she has time to get used to competing at this level; if she knocks my socks off, I’ll be excited to see where she goes in the future.

Top 5 - I think it’s going to be Wingard, Sudderth, and Matlock in the top 3, but there are multiple girls I can see pulling off an upset and placing. With that in mind, my other “most likely”s for top 5 are Addo-Ybodo, Schiermeyer, and Burke.

My perfect top 5 is Matlock, Wingard, Sudderth, Addo-Ybodo, Schiermeyer. These predictions are never 100% accurate anyway, and I recognize my bias towards the contestants I like.

Legend has it if you say 'Maduson Matlock' three times in the mirror a Bitter Betty will appear spewing vitriol. (NT)No name

Almost agree with you fully here. I think (in no order) it’ll be Wingard, Addo-Yobo, Burke, Sudderth and obviously Matlock. Addo-yobo is strong, she just needs a bit of polishing. Same with Burke. Wingard is so beautiful and seems to improve each year. Matlock does well each year and swept prelims. Sudderth is stunning facially and electrifying in talent. I’m worried Matlock will fall, and top 3 will be Wingard, Addo-yobo and Burke (NT)No name

....Very interesting analysis and quite detailed with measured thoughtfulness on your selections......would not be surprised if you got eight of the top ten, as you know each year there are bound to be one or two surprise semi-finalists. One thing that would have been better was to list those legacy parents by their maiden names that pageant fans would know them as. You said one has a mother whowas Miss Texas first runner-up..which Miss Texas as that would provide the year right there.
