There's a lot of money going in but very little money going out. The scholarships awarded at nationals were GREATLY reduced this year. In the past, all state titleholders received $1500 just for attending nationals but they received zero this year. The only girls who won any $ were the optional winners and top 5. And in the Teens, that was pretty much the same girls. I would guess that about 45 girls came home empty handed. Teen hotel rooms weren't covered either so the teens spent a ton of money going to nationals but received nothing in return. Yes, they got to have the experience but that was it.
