For those young ladies who have been overlooked or have hit a brick wall in other systems….give MVA a try! Don’t read into the negativity that the sour grape bunch post on here. You don’t have to be the top of every category to be seen in MVA because every category counts the same. That is why you see the confusion because you have to understand how the scoring works! Don’t be scared to step out and try something new!!!!

[> Subject: I agree, people don’t understand the judging process of this system. MAO no longer selects contestants based on looks. However, MVA does. You have to be extremely fit for SS and look good in evening gown. If you’re overweight or not very pretty, you’re not going to score well. I hate to be blunt, but that’s the reality of this system. And your community service really does not matter, except to possibly affect interview, which no one but the judges see. The bottom line is, If you’re not in perfect shape but have talent, then do MAO. If you look great, but don’t have talent, do USA. If you look great AND are somewhat talented, do MVA.

[> [> Subject: I think of it a bit differently. If you can score high in 2 categories, I think you can get into the top 15. Scoring high in 3, gets you top 10, possibly top 5. If you are consistent across all categories, you are top 5

[> [> [> [> Subject: But it’s up to the judges. Not the arm chair quarterbacks. And none of us saw interview and none of us know the composite scores. I’ve seen a lot of folks upset over a couple of girls. If you go back and look, they might have been super strong in one category but in all honesty fell in the others.
