I agree, people don’t understand the judging process of this system. MAO no longer selects contestants based on looks. However, MVA does. You have to be extremely fit for SS and look good in evening gown. If you’re overweight or not very pretty, you’re not going to score well. I hate to be blunt, but that’s the reality of this system. And your community service really does not matter, except to possibly affect interview, which no one but the judges see. The bottom line is, If you’re not in perfect shape but have talent, then do MAO. If you look great, but don’t have talent, do USA. If you look great AND are somewhat talented, do MVA. -- Miss Volunteer America Pageant
