Why isn't it fair? If there is only 1 person from the state interested in holding the title, then there isn't really a point in holding an event. I think appointing someone makes perfect sense. And I'm sure if multiple people were interested there would have been some sort of "virtual competition" to decide a "winner". -- Miss Volunteer America Pageant
