Subject: Utah's win: Utah was consistently good. TN was consistently excellent. Was TN downvoted to avoid even the appearance of impropriety?

[> [> Subject: Clearly she was exceptionally prepared and was a serious Top 5 level competitor, but watching online there was something odd about her. It appeared her makeup was -white- from under her eyes down her checks. I wondered if she might have vitiligo and this was makeup to cover it. Along with the straight black hair, it made her face appear elongated. But looking at the parade photos, she's nothing like that, so it must have been her makeup on Saturday??

[> Subject: If the top-five Q&A is any indication, Tennessee finished right where she should have. I thought New Jersey was going to win but thrilled for Utah as I thought she was one of the more well-rounded contestants of the week. Keep in mind, interview is 40%.

[> Subject: Absolutely. They probably placed her lower so it wouldn’t looked rigged, especially since the entire peanut gallery of Voy determined from the get-go that she couldn’t win or it was rigged. I feel so awful for her, because she absolutely deserved to place higher. They pushed her down to avoid controversy.

[> [> Subject: Or she did incredible on stage but didn’t win it in interview. You have to remember the t is always won in interview and obviously the judges did their job and judged during prelims each event separately.

[> [> Subject: There were so many gorgeous, not just throw out the word gorgeous, but STUNNING young women competing; so many accomplished and well educated (& at exceptional schools), so many who had talents you'd want to see again!, and all their gowns were glamorous with national level presentations/ poise. I can't remember a pageant with tougher competition!! It was the first time I though the cliche pageant statement "the judges have such a tough job picking one" was overwhelmingly true! It could have been so many girls night!

[> [> [> Subject: Saying all this, there were a few that distinguished themselves. Miss Utah stood out to me in the opening number. She was sexy and beautiful and compelling to watch. As she competed, I understood why she kept advancing and would continue to- she had an aura of being grounded emotionally & mentally, with a mix of girl next door and glamour. When Miss NJ was called into the T15 and walked to the wrong side of the stage and moved over to the other side, the way she handled it I knew she would be T5 bc she was fun! And so comfortable in her own skin. Miss RI was drop dead gorgeous and since she was going to Wharton for her MBA, she was my pick at that point.

[> Subject: I suspect this-that TN was "canceled" because it could look rigged if she won. To me, she was far and away the best on stage and the most commanding and stunning. Utah feels like the "girl next door". Pretty enough but didn't really stand out to me at all..

[> [> Subject: You will learn as you get to know her this next year, she is fabulous and obviously the judges loved her. Pageants are always won in interview! TN was great onstage, but that doesn't mean she had the best interview.

[> [> [> [> Subject: I finally realized who TN reminded me of-- Kim Kardashian. I know she's very popular with young women but that she's known to be so 'manufactured' sits wrong with many and isn't something to emulate.

[> [> Subject: Utah is facially prettier than TN. TN just knows how to do the USA glamour with hair and makeup. Utah is styled more MAO, but has better raw materials than TN. TN is cute as a button but not beautiful. She knows how to USA style herself. That said, TN nailed her onstage performance.

[> Subject: I was delighted to see UT won..her authenticity came across with ease, as well as poise. I thought TN was strong, but somewhat ‘made up’ and appeared a bit unapproachable..just from watching only. Would have preferred GA in her spot in the T10. I was sincerely shocked to not see her advance to the T5.
