Growing up I remember my mom and aunt both had the red rubber bag too.
But was never, that I know of, used for giving enemas.

Like your mom, they both had the enema bulb. A 6 oz and a 8 oz bulb.

This was in the late 50s. I found the same syringe on the web. Red with black nozzle. Had a white-tan round shaped disk where the nozzle went into the bulb.

The bulb was used often in our home and my aunt’s home.

My aunt was a nurse. She believed an enema was a cure all for most anything.

When I stayed with her I remember her talking with other moms about the enema.

There was one mom who would bring her two kids over. After talking over coffee with her she would get the bulb out. The boy always was given an enema when she visited . She gave him enemas on the kitchen table.

Vintage enema devices are a hot collector’s thing now.
