Can't help it, but that is how my handicap is done now.

Nope. You need a certain GHIN handicap to get into qualifying round(s) that, I think, are held around the country, but your must perform in that/those rounds in order to play in USGA Open.

Yes. You need to be quite picky about giving out your GHIN number. I don't know why they aren't requiring passwords to enter rounds. Of course, sometimes you have to release your GHIN number if you want to play in a tournament. The system is totally not a secure one.
