Synthis, still shuddering and sobbing, gently put her arms around him, as if hoping being closer to him could make her feel better. And, surprisingly, as she held onto him and he held onto her, her sobbs became less violent. After what seemed like an eternity, she gently, almost weakly, pulled away.

This time, however, she didn't wish to use Xiua's voice. She'd sign her way through this one.

[I'm sorry, M'att...] She started, signing and thinking because she felt that both M'att and Xiua should receive her message at the same time. [But... the truth is, I hate my past. I wish I could just erase it, but I can't. It's over. There's nothing I can do about it, but the good news it that it can't hurt me physically anymore. Not here, not now. I'm not sure what you do or don't know about it, but I'm not sure it really needs to be told.]

Synthis gave a shuddering breath, and looked at M'att. She was still crying slightly, but it looked like she wasn't going to burst out again just yet.

Xiua, however, was troubled. Who was the man, and the boy? Would Synthis ever tell her?

(Oh! I remembered somefink. Pupkins and I were thinking of a way to get M'att and Synthis involved in hating K'mir, and... well, e-mail Pup. She'll be happy to explain. It was her idea, anyway. ^_^))
