Subject: Back off, we’ll take you on…<^> I don't feel the way I've ever felt…

Headstrong to take on anyone…

Amyr was walking through the forests Outside the Weyr with her brother, blissfully unaware that he looked so meloncholy. Her walk was one of confidence, with her head held high as she looked aorund. Her fiery red locks, only to her ears and cut exactly as her brother’s was, glinted in the sunlight that came through the trees, her green eyes shining. Today, she was in a pretty good mood. She was in a new home, had a chance to make new friends… and there was a forest! The tall, gangly girl fingered the bow slung over her shoulder and smiled. She loved forests. And by loving forests, it meant she loved wherrie-hunting.

I know…

Amyrel was a very different case from his sister, though they looked almost exactly alike. Now, the boy had his shoulders sagging, and was looking down at the ground, seeming smaller than he really was. His eyes were downcast, never looking up, as if he were souless and following behind his sister was all he could do. However, if anyone did chance a glance at those serene emerald eyes, they would see a world beyond, and understanding seeming impossible from one so young. At the moment, he was humming softly, trying to relieve himself of his silence-phobia. His mind was not present; he was thinking of life in Seiliez, the Weyr-Hold he’d made up in his mind. Right now, Shalin and R’lkent, the Weyrleaders of Seiliez Weyr were upset, because when senior queen Labyrinth flew, three of her eggs were ‘sport’ dragons, and all had Impressed. They were debating about what to do with them, especially since one was their only son, R’lin of white Moth.

I know that you are wrong…

Amyr looked behind her at her brother, and rolled her eyes. Her brother’s, well, ‘out of touch with the world’ lifestyle had most people believe the boy retarded, though he was anything but. When Amyr could get him to talk, he was very deep and attentive, with intelligent answers and fathomable questions. However, this wasn’t all she was thinking of now as she stopped. She’d heard the call of a wherrie, and she was listening for it. Eyes widening, she saw the feathery form of the dangerous bird, and strung her bow.

I’m gonna smile and not get worried…

The boy momentarily broke out of the conference of the Weyrleaders to look up at his now motionless twin. Realizing he should be quiet, the boy watched her, his eyes glazing over slightly as he tried to pay quiet attention to make sure she didn’t need his help and watch as the Weyrleaders decided what to do. R’lin had also attended the meeting, and his Moth was small enough that he could bring her in with him, making her about gold wher-sized. However, he also watche dnervously as the bird out in Amyr’s world ruffled its feathers, and the girl took careful aim.

Headstrong, we’re headstrong…

Amyr took careful aim as the brid started to move, and she was careful to stay in one place, not making a single noise, Once her calculations had been triple-checked and she was sure she’d hit the bird with the right amount of force, she pulled the arrow back just and inch farther than it had been, and let it go. The whistle of an arrow was all she listened to.

I try but it shows…

Amyrel gave a small gulp as he saw he let go, and closed his eyes. He hated seeing the poor animals die, even if he was afraid of most creatures that weren’t reptillian or human. For a moment, he forgot all about R’lin and Moth, trying his best to block out the cruel act that was going on as his sister chose to try and end the life of the bird. He just couldn’t stand death…
