[The little threesome had decided to take a walk through the woods. Lyzel, the eldest of the siblings, was walking at a leisurely pace. It wasn’t often he and the twins could find something all three enjoyed, but a nature-walk happened to be one of those few things. Lyzel himself enjoyed the peace of it all, the quiet that you couldn’t find in the Weyr. Looking around with gentle sapphire eyes, he brushed a dirty-blonde lock out of his face, and smiled. He looked over to the twins. They were his best friends at times. The twins looked nothing like their older brother, wich was just as well. Lyzel received his looks from his mother, the twins from theirs. Surprisingly, none of them looked at all like the father they shared.]

(Talyn looked up at his brother and smiled back, giving a thumbs-up. Talyn was about average height for a sixteen-turn-old boy such as he, with dark skin and silky black hair to his shoulders. Ocean blue eyes shone as he looked around excitedly. At their old home, they rarely had a chance to get out of the Hold, and the entergetic teen was very curious about the world around him. On occasion, he would ask Lyzel a question that the older brother couldn’t answer. One of these times was just now. “Lyzel?”)

[“Yeah?”]

(“What’s that?” he asked, pointing to a bird. “What kind, I mean?”)

{Taryn came to Lyzel’s rescue at this point. “It’s a Lark.” She whispered. Taryn, though his twin, was a whole head shorter than Talyn. She had the same multi-racial look as her brother, with dark skin and silky black hair. However, her shining locks went all the way to midback. Her bright, emerlad-green eyes were almost cat-like, very calm and cool. She looked very fragile, in contrast to her strong brothers, but knew nature better than all the rest. She was a big nature freak, and knew all the questions her twin could have.}

(“Oh. Thanks.” Talyn said, smiling at his siter.)

However, they’d never hear Taryn’s answer to this, because something else took her intrest.

{“HEY!” She screamed, running ahead well into the clearing they’d approached as she saw Amyr let go of the arrow. With a feline’s speed, she raced to the girl, jumped up, and grabbed the much taller woman from behind. Taryn clamped her arms hard around the woman’s waist, pinning her arms to her sides. She looked up, determined not to let go, no matter how hard the woman struggled. When she looked up, she was relieved to see the wherrie had flown off at her shout, the arrow whistling harmlessly through the ends of a few tailfeathers.}

[Lyzel immediately gasped. “TARYN!” he cried, running after the girl, and trying to wrench her off Amyr.]

(Talyn gave a loud sigh. “Not AGAIN, Taryn!” he whined. Why did she always have to go save the animals? The taller of the twins ran over with Lyzel and together they pulled Taryn away.)

{Taryn struggled against her brothers’ grip, but finally let go willingly once sure the wherrie was far off.}

[Lyzel sighed, and looked up at Amyr. “Sorry, ma’am. This is my little sister, Taryn. She’s, er, very animal loving, and…” he sighed. “Sorry, again. I’m Lyzel, and these are the twins, Taryn and Talyn… Are you alright?”]

{Taryn, calm all of a sudden, tensed. She was sure she’d heard something. Looking around, she walked over to where the wherrie had been, and looked down, eyes widening. Looking down, she found a wherrie nest. Many broken shells indicated that tunnelsnakes had killed all but one egg… which was hatching now.
Taryn knelt next to the egg, bending over it and waiting. A small beak poked through the shell, and chirping sounds could be heard. Fearing it couldn’t make it’s way out alone, Taryn gently prodded the egg a little, and a small newly-hatched wherrie fell into her hands. She looked down at it with intrest and awe, and the little one looked back up at her with big, black eyes. He—or, at least she thought it male—chirped once, and a warm smile broke out across her face. Holding the small one against her chest, she knew the mother would be too afraid to come back now that the woman had scared her. Gently, she stroked the creature’s head, and with a soft chirp, the wherrie chick fell asleep.}

(Talyn cocked his head at her. “What’cha got there, sis?”)

{Taryn held the babe close, but showed him. “I saved him.”}

(Talyn’s eyes widened. “But, you’re not going to keep that filthy thing, are you?!”)

{Taryn sighed. “Elija is not flithy. He’s sweet. And, I am taking care of him.”}

(“Elija? You named it?”)

({Taryn just nodded, and Talyn sighed. No use trying to talk her out of it…})
