I did mention the bat mitzvah before. It is a big deal, and what mom considered my lackadaisical attitude toward it did greatly concern her.

Of that group there were three other girls, none Jewish. There were about eight boys, a couple were Jewish.

On the other, I remember my aunt came over a short time after having gotten one. I was not acting like my regular self and she asked what was the matter with "Miss Priss." Mom told her I had just gotten a spanking and if my attitude did not "improve pronto" I'd be getting another. I am sure my beaming Aunt was hopeful.

I went through a period of hard rebellion in my early teens when I had not been spanked for a few years. I was hanging around with the wrong kind of kids. A few parental spankings steered me through that time without any long term harm. Though I hated and resented it at the time, years later, I had a better appreciation for the discipline imposed on me because my parents truly cared. I'm not sure how I would have handled it if anyone was enjoying my punishments, but it's good to see that didn't diminish the benefit of your spankings for you.
