I believe a spanking should always be hard. It needs to sting to make the desired impression. When I was still giving spankings, length would vary by the incident and surrounding circumstances. I never gave the ridiculously long spankings sometimes described in this forum, but a two minute hard hand spanking was not unknown in our household.

They both did it hard, rapid-fire, and it did not take long. There was no real risk of injury but, at least for me, that made me fear getting in trouble.
