This sucks!! My last actual ticket was when I was 17. I have been pulled over a couple times but I have gotten out of all the others. The time I got the ticket I didn't get in trouble, more than just a lecture and my car taken for a few days; mostly because I was able to pay for my ticket with my babysitting money. I remember vividly my mom telling me it would have been a different conversation if they would have had to pay for it. This time, I am broke! I have been out of work for the past month. So in order for me to get the ticket paid I am going to have to tell my parents. This is so stupid!! I am extremely nervous to tell them. I am terrified that she will actually go through with her "under my roof" threat. I know I have talked about getting excited about spankings and stuff, but when it comes down to it. I don't want to be spanked by my mom but I also don't want my car taken away either. The ticket will be like $200 I have 2 more months before I go back to school so if she takes my car this is going to be a miserable summer. Maybe I can get a job fast enough to get it paid for. Unlike most on this board I think you are WAY too old for spankings. But what you might do is act like an adult. When I was thirteen my parents resumed spankings after a five year hiatus. I was bullshit, of course. But I was fortunate to meet a small group of kids in a similar situation. I learned about having adult conversations with parents about behavior and appropriate punishment, and I improved my behavior. As a result my last spanking was when I was fourteen. I probably could somehow borrow the money from someone, not sure who yet. I have to come up with it in 1 month. I think the payment due date is 7/17 or go to court. And I think it is very close to what you call and adult relationship. I think me being the oldest has made it harder for her to give up the "mother role". But, I am still dependent on my parents so it will probably change quite a bit when I graduate and hopefully get a big girl job. I guess we will see. As far as being too old, I think I am too. You don't have to graduate to get a "big girl job" at least enough to pay for a car. Besides, unlike with the boomers, the car is not that big of a deal, certainly not so big a deal you would prefer submitting to a humiliating spanking from your mother than lose it. A spanking really accomplishes nothing for no one. Like at your age, you don't know speeding is a bad thing. It will just be painful and embarrassing, where working it off is a productive form of penalty. Often part of speeding penalties are Points. You can remove 2 points by taking one of these courses. Inquire if your state has such a system. Ivy and Ross offer sound advice. Speeding is not really chosen after much reflection. Often it is a matter of paying close attention to driving conditions. Turn off your sound system and listen to external factors such as road noise and train horns. Be in touch with reality. Promptly inform your parents. Jobs for desperate young women are going to be exploitative or worse.
